‘On August 3rd, 2014, before sunrise, so-called ‘Islamic State’ militants attacked the village of Kocho and its neighbouring villages. Some residents managed to flee to Mount Sinjar, but most did not make it past the outskirts of the village and were to face a genocide campaign engulfing the entire Yazidi community in Sinjar.’
